Born and raised in Wensleydale, Mel has years of hands-on business-related experience under her belt.
Mel initially started her working career in accounting, before becoming a customer service officer for Bendigo Bank. For 15 years she was a successful business owner, along with assisting her family in operating the Winchelsea IGA.
Mel furthered her business experience and knowledge by completing her Certificate IV in Business Management and her Certificate IV in Accounting. She is extremely competent at Xero, ensuring her Xero certification is maintained annually.
Mel has always had a passion for being involved in the community and giving back her time which is why she has over 20 years of experience in volunteering. Ranging from being the Treasurer at HM Kinimonth Pre School, School Councillor at Winchelsea Primary School, Camperdown College and Grovedale College, School Council President spanning six years at Winchelsea Primary School and Camperdown College, and Treasurer for the Camperdown Basketball Association.
In 2008, Mel took her years of business experience and understanding of the needs and requirements of being a business owner and re-entered the world of accounting, bookkeeping, audit and tax.
Mel is detailed, thorough, observant, helpful and responsible. She prides herself on the services she provides and loves helping our clients better understand their business. She credits her father for her work ethic and kindness and says “My dad has been the biggest influence. He has an incredible work ethic and was always willing to try or implement new things in his businesses. Always led by example and treated his staff like family.”
Mel believes that while everyone can offer similar services and/or products, it will only ever be your service that sets you apart.
Outside of the office, when Mel is not working or learning new Xero features, you will find her travelling, attending live music and shows, or relaxing with some yoga.
